Restoring Order to Cleveland and Cuyahoga County Neighborhoods

Land banking has been in recent public policy discussions in Ohio due to the effects of sustained high rates of foreclosure on numerous areas of Cuyahoga County. Assuming the titles to tax-delinquent properties, then securing, rehabilitating, demolishing or transferring the properties to developers or homeowners to ensure the properties are put to use instead of remaining vacant or abandoned are the duties of a land bank. Coupled with the fact that Cuyahoga County has lost 100,000 residents Jim Rokakis believes that the Ohio’s Land Bank Bill is a powerful tool to deal with abandoned properties.
